Fabrication of a Patient-Specific Femur Model
Utilized released patient CT images to extract femur geometries and fabricate a scaled model for a fabrication and design course.
Project responsibilities included:
Utilizing ITK-SNAP to selectively extract the femur through contrast adjustment and image thresholding
Processing extracted geometries in Autodesk Meshmixer to reduce file size and smooth profiles
Scaling 3D geometry in UltiMaker Cura to fit the print bed and 3D printing with an FDM printer
Writing final report document processes and project outcomes
Skills Utilized: Image Segmentation, 3D Printing, Technical Writing
Project Outcomes: Submitted final report to course instructor and received full marks.
